ESTATE PLANNING
Revocable Trusts
Revocable trusts, otherwise known as living trusts, are the centerpiece of most estate plans. Revocable Trusts can prevent your estate from going into probate. Katie will design a revocable trust that meets your specific wishes, family circumstances and tax requirements. After finalizing your estate plan, she will help you transfer all of your assets and properties to your trust to avoid probate.
Wills
Will: A Will is a legal document that expresses a person's wishes as to how their property is to be distributed after their death and as to which person is to manage the property until its final distribution.
Pour-Over Will: A Pour-Over Will specifies that some or all of your property will be given to a trust rather than directly to individual heirs. “Pour-over” means that remaining property in your estate, after any specific gifts to individuals are made, goes directly into the trust.
Powers of Attorney
A Power of Attorney (POA) is an incredibly important piece of your Estate Planning efforts. Your POA allows you to appoint another person, known as an “agent,” to act in your place. An agent can step in to make financial, medical or other major life decisions should you become incapacitated and no longer able to do so. There are several types of POAs, and it can be a bit confusing to navigate the process of choosing the right one on your own. Katie can advise you regarding which POA is most suitable for your specific needs.
